Tippoo's Tiger: British Museum's opposition art

Tippoo's Tiger or the Tiger of Mysore - sybolising opposition to the British, this piece of art was owned by Tipu Sultan in 1795, but is displayed in the Victoria and Albert Museum. They say only that "after the fall of Seringapatam and the death of Tipu Sultan in 1799, the model was brought to London and was displayed in the museum of the East India Company". I suspect that that means, "the model was looted and taken to London".
