Alevga was one of the first (occupied) abandoned villages I heard about, through the Rough Guide's mention of 'long-abandoned Turkish-Cypriot hamlets such as Alevga and Ayios Yeorgoudhi' (Dubin, 2005: 204).
Visiting Alevga was very affecting, confirming my opinion that the treatment of community sites not judged to be significant cultural heritage - or even not to be cultural heritage - could be an interesting and important cultural heritage conflict to document and discuss.
